Pump Separator Plates |
Separator plates are used to perform a number of different functions. Blank plates are used to isolate one housing from the one next to it. O-rings ride on the both shafts to insure complete separation between sections. Primary use is to separate scavenge sections from the pressure section of a dry sump pump. Crossported separators are used to allow flow from one housing to the on next to it. Primary use is to allow scavenge sections to flow together to a single outlet port in a dry sump pump. A Bearing section with or without crossport is used to support the drive and idler shafts in the middle of a multistage pump. Blank and crossported separators are used to isolate the adjacent gear set from direct contact with the bearing. A blank or crossported separator is used depending on the needs of the application to isolate or combine the outlet side of the adjacent housings. A double seal section is used in high pressure applications to gaurentee positive isolation between 2 pump sections where cross contamination would be a real problem. In tractor pumps they are used to separate oil and fuel sections. Double crossported separators are used only in special applications where inlet and outlet sides of pump sections are meant to be combined. Special care must be taken in these situation.
